Arrived in Minnesota

Hello Everyone!

Well, the boys and I have officially landed in Minnesota. We got here little over a week ago and are getting settled nicely. The boys have gotten to see the grandparents here in the Twin Cities and Mitchell is loving all the new toys and special attention. Last week, I brought the boys to our local community center for toddler open gym. He had a blast running around on all the toddler-sized mats and playing with the other children. We are looking forward to heading back again this weekend. Yesterday, I brought the boys to the Minnesota Children's Museum, thinking that it was Habitot Tuesday (where the museum sets aside a special day just for children under 4) Unfortunately, I didn't notice on the schedule that Habitot Tuesday is every other Tuesday. On the opposing Tuesday is Pre-K and Kindergarten field trip day. So, instead of the quiet I was expecting, I ended up chasing after Mitchell through hundreds of 4 and 5 year olds running ramped throughout the museum...not much fun. I also ended up parking in a garage that was not affiliated with the Museum, so instead of the discounted price and the convenient location, I had to pay $9 instead of $3 and then walk outside in -5 degree weather with my infant and toddler (any of you who know St. Paul, knows that they have an entire skyline built so that no one has to ever walk outside IF you know how to navigate it) Next week we will head back for Toddler Tuesday and after doing so many things wrong this time, I will know better how to do them right.

Scott is doing well. I am receiving occasional e-mails from him (about every other day). They do not yet have phone capabilities for all the soldiers to use, so I haven't gotten a phone call from him at FOB Joyce. He was able to call from Bagram 2 weeks ago. He has not yet received the package that I sent him a little over 2 weeks ago. Once he receives the package and we know that the APO address is correct, I will post and e-mail it out to family and friends. He loves getting packages - especially ones with nice cigars (make sure they are sent in humidified packs or they will dry out and be ruined - any smoke shop should have them available). He also likes getting books, hygiene products and letters from kids. I got a picture of him a couple of days ago standing with his Command Sergeant Major - Carabello. That is the picture I have posted with this blog.

I am working on getting more pictures and videos up...and doing more blogs. I'm looking for the software to download on my parents computer so that I can attach my camera and download. We left New York in a bit of a rush, so lots of things are missing or misplaced.

I hope you all are doing well. Check back for more info and pictures. Take care and God Bless!

Okay everyone, I know I have't done the greatest job at keeping this up-to-date, but hopefully I will work on updating it everyday. So, here's the scoop on all that has been going on... Scott, the boys and I had a wonderful holiday season with friends here in the north country. We kept things pretty simple and enjoyed being in our home for one last x-mas. We put the house on the market as of last Monday and are hoping for a quick sell (and of course to make some money on all the work we've done). Scott deployed to Afghanistan after a few flight delays and 3 good-byes. I am working on getting things moved out of the house as my dad arrives on Wednesday and I still have lots of work to do. I am posting some before and after pics of the house...enjoy!

Here are the after pics...
